Birds, skins and ranks
30 birds, from a rubber duck to a phoenix, and 30 hats, gear, hoops and trails to go with them. Here is every bird, a look at the skins, and the ten ranks from Egg to Legend.
Birds by rarity
Every Flappy Spikes player starts with the Classic pink bird, the same bird that flew in 2014. The other 29 birds are unlocked with coins in the Skins screen, sorted by rarity. Many of the epic and legendary birds are animated: the Ghost flickers, the Magma bird glows and the Galaxy bird twinkles.
Common 10 birds · 150 coins each, Classic is free
Rare 10 birds · 750 coins each
Epic 6 birds · 2,000 coins each
Legendary 4 birds · 5,000 coins each
The Shop and Skins open once you have scored 25 points in a run.
Hats, gear, hoops and trails
On top of the bird there are four more layers, each with 30 choices: hats from a cap to a crown, gear from shades to a jetpack, hoops that replace the pink rings you fly through, and trails that stream behind your bird while it's on fire or on a ride. Accessories cost 250 coins (common), 750 (rare), 2,000 (epic) or 5,000 (legendary). Mix them however you like: your look also shows in Versus, so other players race against your style. A few of them:

The 10 ranks
Your rank comes from your best score. Score 10 in a run and you hatch as an Egg; reach 5,000 and you are a Legend. Each new rank pays a one-time coin reward and gives you a bigger emblem on the Levels screen.

How to earn coins
- Fly. Every hoop pays 1 coin, a perfect pays 2.
- Grab the bonuses. The Piggy Bank, the Firefly Jar, the Star Trail, the balloon bonus and the puzzle all pay coins. How to play explains each one.
- Win in Versus. A win pays 10 coins, a draw 5. See how Versus works.
- Rank up. Every new rank pays a one-time reward, from 50 coins for Egg to 5,000 for Legend.
- Free coins. The Shop has free coins for watching a short video, a few times a day.
- Coin packs. If you want a shortcut, the Shop sells coin packs.
